Wanted - supplier of Ford water pump kits

Just been asked by a friend whether there is a supplier in Australia of water pump kits for the Mercury type twin pulley water pumps on a sidevalve V8.

He'd also be happy of course with a new right hand water pump.

Any thoughts?

I know this is not in Australia but try Van Pelt Sales on the net. They are in the States, but seem reliable and know what they are talking about.
Good Luck

South Australian Supplier

Hi All
Tracked down our SA supplier. He used to rebuild with parts out of the States but found them unreliable. He now builds brand new pumps at $Aus390 a pair, single or double pulley.
Contact details - Mike Davidson on mrd@dragnet.com.au or mobile 0412 002 617.

Be a tad careful with NOS water pump kits . Sometimes the grease in the bearing has gone hard / dried out with age and the bearing fails in quick time . Also , there are low quality replacement bearings around , made in Taiwan or India , they only last a few months if your lucky . The bearings tend to be a generic size and fit many makes e.g., the bearing OD is often 1 3/16" and in many cases has a 5/8" shaft at each end .

I used a Chev kit in my series 1 Land Rover , I had to modify the Chev impeller , but it works OK .

There are two companies in Melbourne that do rebuilds . One in Eltham and one in South Melb. They usually charge about $140 for a rebuild plus more for any extra unforseen work .

Does anyone know a supplier in NZ for the kits?

I tried Ajays a few times, but he never seemed to have them in stock.

Rob
