A Shameless Promotion for a WW2 Tanker

For those not in the know or who have forgotten, Robert C. Dick is a WW2 tanker who served in the Pacific, specifically Leyte and Okinawa. In the latter he was wounded and received the Silver Star in dismounting to save the life of a wounded infantryman. He plays that down, of course, but he's 85 now and still full of beans, living in southern Oregon. A number of years ago now we raised some money to get him a WW2 tanker's helmet - he'd lost his when he was wounded - and a copy of Hunnicutt's SHERMAN. My friend Mike Eastes presented it to him and somewhere I have the pics. Some of you will remember THAT.

Anyway, Bob's written a book of his experiences called CUTTHROATS which I had the privilege of reviewing in mauscript form. It's really quite good! Ballantine Books picked it up for publication in paperback; the book has been on the shelves for 11 days and has just gone into a second printing! I shall do my best to make sure that every manjack of you here buys one! :D

Gotta love these old guys, eh? I'm gonna miss them when they're all gone.

CUTTHROATS. It's a hell of a story by a hell of a man. Buy it.
