CMP 3 Tonner
 

I am hoping someone here can help me out with this photo. I believe it to be a CMP 3 Tonner Portee. I would like opinions on the wheel base, would it be the 134" or 158". The wheel size in height and width would be appreciated.

It's a 2 pounder portee on a long wheelbase cab 12. The pic above is a Ford version; the one in your image looks to be a Chev as served in the Western Desert campaign.

It runs on 10.50 20 tyres, and is a 158" wheelbase.

This particular one is a replica, based on a Ford F60L cab 12 by John Belfield.

Thank you for the reply and the link. As for the 10.50 20 tires, would that be a 40" height and 10" width? I'm trying to see if I have this right. I'm building a 1:35th scale replica of this vehicle and thought the best information to be gathered from the 1:1 guys.

The restored Portee looks great, I'd love to see shots of the ammo lockers and caster tracks. That particular type of Portee with the 2Pdr wheel holders like that was photographed in Austrailia, not sure if that type was in the desert. The desert photos I have seem to show Cheverolet CMP's with the ford square mesh front grill. Off hand, that tubular part mounted on the right side of the chevy is I believe an overflow tank, would you happen to have the measurements of that and or photographs?

Ok this is the body that want to put on my 41 C60L if I can complete the deal for the gun. I'm looking for as much information and pictues as I can find so that I can reproduce the body. I've been saving the pictures previously posted on the Forum for the last couple of years.

Did the gun portee's have the center mounted winch?
