AutoCad model of carrier track
Anyone out there have one? If not, can anyone supply me with a track link? I want to do a 3D model of the suspension and I'd lik to start with the track.
BTW I was at Camp Roberts, CA last week and they have one in back of their museum. It's pretty chopped up, just the hull and track. I dont know what they are going to do with it since the museum is closed. |
A member of this forum has sent me a link to model. When it is done I will post again. If anyone wants a copy just let me know.

I still have a ways to go with this. I've yet to add the guide horns for the road wheels and the cutouts for adding links, but I thought people would like to see my progress.

Spuds?
Robi,
Good modelling work. Did the track link you got have spuds on it? The best tracks had spuds - to help with those Canadian winter roads. Stewart |
CnC machine
IS this autocad program you are using compatible with CNC milling mahines? For example will you be able to input it and mill a mould or blank for casting purposes ?

The bottom of the track link I have is smooth. Do you a sample or a pic of the version with spuds? I can try modeling both versions.
I have acces to full CNC shop and I use surfcam to convert my ACAD model to CNC. so, yes I can. I also have a small home foundry so I can cast some as well. |
No spuds in Beachville
Robi,
The tracks that I have are smooth also. I have seen references to the spudded track in the manuals, but no clear pictures or detailed descriptions. I just hooked up with a MkI restoration guy near me in Ontario, I will quiz him on the style of track on his Carrier. Stewart |
Let me know what you find out. I have no manuals, only pics off the net and the track link.
