Robert Pearce's C15A

Just added to the old cmp site is a page on Robert's C15A in Adelong, NSW.

This truck is interesting in that it had a rebuild whilst in service and has evidence of Navy as well as Army markings.

Great picture

Great image, with one window up it looks like the truck is winking or raising and eyebrow behind it’s human. Would be great to have similar pictures of everybody in our little world wide group of CMPers. Of course with multiple trucks to individual owners how do you pick which truck for the mug book? Some place I’ve got a similar photo of me taken years ago in front of my HUP which I will dig out and post.

Question about the truck and numbers, what is the relationship of the different numbers to the different layers of paint and different colors? Is the yellow under any of the numbers?

Colours

Hi Phil

The colours look to be a very weathered top coat of fire engine red probably from use in a bush fire brigade, then the main visible colour, a sort of yellow is actually weathered khaki. As as Australian built truck it would not have seen Western Desert use. The lack of a deep bronze green layer indicate disposal before the Army started to use that colour as a low maintenance gloss finish as vehicles required painting post-war.

All the pics on the page came from Robert. You can see the cable release in the above self-portrait which is a gem. Perhaps it would be good to have all CMP owners take a similar pic of themselves with their truck for an eventual wall poster.

Didn't we try to do a similar thing before?

Anyhoot, here's my pic, showing from left to right: Rory Ballard, yours truly, and good ole Geoff.

Y'know almost as I posted this I had the feeling you'd remind me we'd done this already! What I was thinking about was to encourage people to take pics from exactly the same angle as Phil mentioned...

Ahah - use the CMP as a yard stick! Great idea (will take some time in my case, though).

Take some time? Because of your lofty construction? I reckon you and Euan may be the only people who can look inside the engine bay of a 3-ton CMP without standing on the bumper.

Anyway, let's get started on the project - I'll create a thread to kick things off then.
