Parts for a 1942 C8A?

Hi there, I'm starting the restoration plan for my C8A HUP and am wondering about parts sources. Are engine, brake & steering parts still available?

Hi Glenn

You're in the right place!

There's a great network of people here around the world ready to help you out.

You should be able to find most parts, or at least someone will be likely to have a good used part.

The hydraulics of the brakes are easy, just have them re-sleeved in stainless steel... you can get new hoses and also have new steel pipes made.

As Keith says you are in the right place. Wish this resource had been available 30 years ago when I started on my first CMP. Then I was sending snail mail to everybody who was listed in the MVPA as owning a CMP. Discovered CMP owners were and are a real friendly bunch.

CMPs are great many of the mechanical parts were off the shelf Ford or Chevrolet parts, so it becomes a matter of finding what civilian truck of the day used the part. One surprise with my HUP was that the rear brakes are Chevy while the fronts are Ford.

As for body parts and in terms peculiar to CMP ask the questions here.

Hey guys thank you for your support! I'm picking up a parts vehicle this weekend. So basically I will have 2 parts vehicles that I can make one out of. I have another project that I am working on right now and will start the HUP after. I didn't think I would find a parts truck so quickly. I have a few Austin Gipsys for which parts very hard to find.

Looks like a C8A 4x4 Heavy Utility Truck. The C8 was an entirely different 4x2 vehicle.
