CMPs at BB1

I will be looking to photograph a number of CMPs at Bob's BB1 event at Hammond, ON (20 minutes East of Ottawa), 11-13 Aug, for the cover of a future book on CMPs. Push, pull, trail, drag or tow your green beast to this social event.
I will be there (CMP Gods willing) in an 8cwt from the collection of the Swords & Ploughshares Museum.

On good authority....

Clive....
Having sat across the room from you at B BB1,I have ,by reason of my masterfull mathematical skills ,determined that this is BBB #2...

BBB stands for Bob's Beer and Burgers....not affiliated with any group or classification of Rusty old trucks and would be very pleased to see any and all WW2 and Korean war era vehicle ,including armour,US,Canadian and any other nationalities vehicles that can be pushed ,pulled or dragged to the event..
A great time will be had by all.

I would have classified that original meeting of the "Old Contemptables" as pre-BBB-1 but have no problem of adopting your confounded new math and determining the upcoming gathering as BBB-2.
Can you bring your motorcycle stuff and I will bring my portable scanner and PC?

Alex Blair (RIP) 02-08-06 20:17

MC stuff...

Just an up date to the BBB#2 at Bob Carriers...

we need to charge about $12.00 for the steak, Caesar salad, bakers, rolls and fresh corn on the cob...... It won't cover everything but will mitigate our costs for potties, paper plates etc.....

Friday evening and Saturday noon will be burgers and weiners on demand at $2.00 for burgers and trimmings and a buck for wieners.....Rob is getting us some folding tables and chairs from the Connaught rifle range as long as we pick up and return......

I am getting a stack of skids for the campfire..... will need the coals to cook the corn in the husk over coals...... trying to get about 16 fresh small bails of hay to sit on around the fire.....

we really need a head count for the food by Tuesday of next week.... will have extras to be safe but do not to wish to waste good food........

This is going to be a great chance for all us Rusty Old Truckers to get together and Bob has tons of camping room and as previously will be providing portable potties at the camp site ..
Would like to see lots of iron there but even if your interests lie in the craft and don't have a vehicle ,come and tell lies and see what is going on ...
A head count is very important so please advise Bob through a posting here of by PM through this web site..
Bob will be coming on line here to give instructions to get to his ranch..
We hope to see lots of people from Ontario , Quebec, the maritimes and the US.....There is lots of iron out there so lets get it out for a final summer drive...Fall starts in September..

I are coming.

Alex,

I was going to bring the missus to Ottawa for this event, so put us down for lots of food. No truck for this year.

Were you going to make one of those supplemental manuals for me? If so, I could get an advance on my allowance to cover that, the burgers, salads, etc.

Wandering Gunners

My regrets to all:

I will be in Mali, west Africa on Her Majesty's business.

My best to all... I will be there in spirit as Clive is bringing our C8 along for the show.

Cheers! Mike

I'll be there as well, no truck in tow this time, you'll have to settle for my ugly face instead !!!!

DIRECTIONS TO BB1 (OR 2??)

As previously mentioned in another Thread: Where the Hell is Hammond "Bob's BBQ 1 is scheduled for the weekend of 12/13 August 2006. A detailed schedule will be posted as soon as we tie up a few loose ends.

Where the hell is Hammond? Hammond is a nice little town in Eastern Ontario close to Chateau Carriere. In fact, Bob lives between the villages of Cheney and Hammond.

The best routes to access Bob's BBQ/campsite are along highway 417. Route cards (marked BB1 with directional arrows) will be posted along the route at major intersections, starting at the major exits.

The routes to Bob's place are quite easy to follow.

From the West:

Follow 417 through Ottawa. Continue on 417 towards Montreal.
Take Exit 96 at Carlsbad Springs or Exit 88 at Vars.

From the East:

Follow 417 West towards Ottawa .
Take Exit 79 at Limoges or Exit 88 at Vars.

At the Exits, look for the BB1 Route Markers, eg:

From Exit 96 (Carlsbad Springs) proceed North to intersection of road 26. Turn right (East) on 26 and drive to the village of Cheney. As you approach Cheney, you will see a government surplus outlet on the left side of the road. Continue East at a reduced speed and look for an intersection (Drouin Road) located between a corner store/gas station and a restaurant (Chez Marie). Turn left (North) on Drouin and follow the route markers.

From Exit 88 (Vars) proceed North on 33 to intersection of road 26. Turn left (North) on Drouin and follow the route markers

From Exit 79 (Limoges) proceed North on 37 to intersection of road 26. Turn left (North) on Drouin and ...you get the picture.

See the following URL for a road map of the area: http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/tr...heets/Map11.pdf - zoom in on Vars/Limoges etc...
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/tra...eets/Map11.pdf

The camp site will be “primitive” in nature – in other words there will be very limited electrical (mostly for lighting) and some potable water available. Portapotties will be provided.

Two shelters have been set up; one for cooking and one for gathering. They may be used for camping if inclement weather strikes.

Garbage bins will be provided.

There is plenty of parking available for campers/trucks/cars/vans/CMPS/SMP etc..."

Coming up fast...

Well BBB#2 is coming up quickly...
Anyone visiting the Ottawa area on the weekend can contact me through PM or my web site at Military Manuals and I will see that they are escorted to Cheney if they are unfamiliar with the area...Would like to have lots of interest in the Eastern Ontario-Western Quebec area ..I know there are lots of military vehicle collectors in the area and this ones for you...(As the commercial says..)
Hope to see you there..A heads up here or to Bob or Rob or myself will be helpful when it comes to ordering the grub..
Let's have a great gather up..
