Hi Clive......

That repeat background of the water tower and the cement faced building behind one of the trucks looks very familiar.

The other picture with the Peace tower and Supreme court..... it owuld have to be around Victoria island or maybe the Lebreton flats by the rail yard...... or maybe closer in the road behind Duke/Wellington roughly where Baker junk yard was.....

Very interesting to say the least. Thanks for showing them.

RCAF # 280 is a 1936 I think from the rad, Standard or Regulier FC Sedan Delivery, Model 36-1271, one of 280 built in 1936 at Oshawa.

RCAf # 338 is possibly a 1936 GMC...does anyone recognise thre rad? It's not a '37 or '38 from my records? Model 9535 1-ton Panel Delivery I would say.

Is that Ford Wagon a 1938 Model C81-A Deluxe Wagon?

I know nothing about Ford trucks but is that a 134" w.b. 81W or a 157" 817W? As COEs were not produced in Canada at the time, I am suggesting imported.

Thanks for the absolutely smashing assortment of photos, never before seen by the general public I would suspect.

I am working my way through three waves of out of town family guests and am finishing the first tomorrow AM. Hopefully will have time next week to do some ID stuff if no one beats me to it.

It is really gratifying to see some of this type of materiel appearing on this and other forums the last few months and I hope to contribute some very original stuff from my own collection over the next few as well.

I wish that I could afford to retire. This would give me all sorts of time to go through the 100,000s military photos held at archives, many of which, as you say, have never before been seen by the general public.

I agree with Hanno, although I would like especially those lorries ;) but was it really blue/black? Was the color scheme the same like in RAF?

Jan, good question! I'd say the RCAF (largely) followed British practice, overseas anyways. But from R.A.F. Ground Equipment Blue - paint specification we learn RAF vehicles were blue-gray before WW2. But only after WW2 they were painted blue-gray (again), this time with black chassis, fenders, etc.

So who knows the whole story about RCAF vehicle colours?

One of my roles at the Commonwealth Air Traing Plan Museum is the aquisition and maintenance of vehicles in the Motor Transport section of the collection.
I thought I'd shared this nice unit with you. It is a 1942 K8 purchased by the RCAF in 1942 and served at #3 B&G.
