Studies in use in the 70s
I'd been meaning to post a link to these photos for a while.
These photos are from a bloke on AULRO who was in the Transport Corps (monash Regiment) between 1970 and 73. Richard , the CMP in the previous picture looks like a cut down C15A Wireless Van .
Note the shape of the rear mudgaurd and the tool box half covering the fuel tank . Do you know why it was cut down like this ? Regards Jim S. |

Not a lot of photos from that interesting time either. I particularly like the Studebaker images.
They were an intrepid bunch obviously having a huge time! Yes, that Chev CMP does look like a cut down sigvan, from the shape of the mudguard to the locker just in front of it. |
Not sure why the sigs van was cut down. I notuced the guard shape and wondered what variant it was (I guess that answers the question as to what). I'll have to ask the fella that took the photos about it.
I asked him a while ago if he had a higher resolution shot of it because I was trying to see if either of the land rover ambulances were my one, there wasn't that many of them after all ;) |

Depot
The Monash Uni regiment had their depot down the end of Ferntree Gully road , in East Oakleigh . I used to drive past it in the mid 70's and see the vehicles lined up . Apparently the Blitz was there for ages . A VMVC club member lived virtually next to it .
The local army reserve unit here in Warragul still had a White Scout car in the vehicle park in the late 1970's , they used it as a training aid for recovery exercises . |

Mate, if you want to talk about the Rover Ambo then feel free. We use the plates that come on the vehicle when we get them. If you can verify that the ARN is completely wrong for that family of vehicles let me know.
We are only human, (well, some of us) and we (they) do make mistakes, but if there is any information that can increase the accuracy of our displays it can only make our museum better. None of us there are closed to the idea of outside assistance. So if you can send me a PM with the ARN of the ambo and verify it we will change that too. |

Also this one which David (the photographer) had that his mother took. He thinks that it is returning troops from the Middle East. It is in Swanston St ashe recognised the town Hall.
