Morris Commercial Parts
I'll post it here, since it is NOS parts I need info on...
As some of you allredy know, I have bought a huge amount of NOS parts for MCC and Austin K5. I have just started to sort out the parts (from a excel-list) trying to determind if MCC parts are interchangeable with both C4, CS8, C8 and so on. It seems as the partnumbers for drivline, axles and brakes have the same numbers on both C4 and CS8. Anyone who can confirm this? And do the axle and brake-parts fit on other MCC's too? And someone told me that some of the brakeparts for Austin K5 is the same as on Bedford MW-series. Is this correct? In the springtime I will be able to sort the parts out better, and make pictures of them. I am awaiting some books from Groucho, and do hope to learn a bit more on MCC from thsoe books/manuals to be able to id the correct parts for different MCC's. BTW Happy New Year! Rolf |
Re: Morris Commercial Parts
Hi Rolf,
Sorry for not getting back to you, after I got your list. I would not think any K5 brake parts are suitable for Bedford MW. I have gone through the Austin K5 part numbers and from what I can see, there are only a couple of parts that would fit other Austins (K2, K3, K6), but as some of the descriptions are in Norwegian (?) and some have no numbers, it is difficult to to be sure. The MCC parts may be for the C8 gun tractor, I am looking for my parts list to double check, but Morris were pretty good at using common parts through the range, so some may well fit C4, CS8 and of course C8GS. |
MCC Parts
Richard
Thanks for your reply. Those parts listed in Norwergian, will be translated :) And when I get the chanse to get ower the mountains, I'll try to put in the rest of the parts-numbers. I recon some of the MCC parts are for the Gun Tractor (including some winch parts), and one of the radiators is for sure for a Gun Tractor. And hopefully I'll get the books from Grouchoo soon so I can be able to check this out some further. And if the parts are for Gun Tractor and CS8/C8's there are not too much demand for them in Norway. I only know of very few MCC at all here, and most of them are C4's. So then I must go hard on those who have a Gun Tractor to restore them, or buy some projects my self to be able to use all the parts :D Rolf |
i have the parts listing book for the 44 C8 15CWT. i could scan the brake parts page for you if you need

Morris Commercial engine parts
Hi Rolf
I am looking for a Morris Commercial 6 cylinder engine cylinder head together with an oil pump skew gear for an Morris Commercial OF engine. These are for 1939 Morris Commercial Military Ambulance which is a similar size to an Austin K2. Any information or help in locating these parts would be very much appreciated. Best wishes, Bernard |

I have sendt you an e-mail Rolf |
Ambo
The engine in my initial PU ' find ' is a OF engine , which Rory has identified as coming from a MCC Ambulance . Must have been a wartime swapover at a RAEME or REME base ?
Rolf , do shipping containers float , no , going by the flotsam that rolled up on a beach last month in the U.K. Were those scavengers prosecuted ? motorcycles were taken . Mike |
they do
A container floats if it is empty and not leaky in the doors.
A 20 fot container wights ap 2500 kilos. To make 2500 kilos float, it must have a volume larger than 2,5 cubik meters. A quick math in my head (and do not trust it too much..) says a 20 fot container is ap. 40 cubick meters. So it can contain almost 37,5 tonns of cargo and even float, but it must be water tight... And then again, the temperature in the water is of importance as is the salt in the water. Well this was todays lecture :-) But it must be no leacks!! Rolf PS: Those teeves should get very long times served.... |
BTW
Ever seen one like this before??
And yes, the engine is in there... lucky me Rolf http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/9...ecratedeg6.jpg |

with Austenitic liners and Stellited valve seats Good find, Rolf ! |
number
Rolf ,
Is that a contract number V ???? I see ? And the weight 2-2-0 , refers to 2 cwt 2lbs maybe . I see OSLO on the side also . I guess this block is destined for your C4 ...... how many WW2 owners can sat they have a NOS engine block in their truck . I am consigning an old steamer to OSLO Rolf , a coal burner . She sails soon . Please load it with MCC parts . Mike |
Mike
I think, as Richard mentioned, it is the Partnumber. Yes it states Oslo on the side. It is the receevers adress stenciled on the crate. Just send a steamer, and I'll fill it up with MCC parts... I guess you will be able to get me some parts I need, so parts will for sure be sendt down under :-) I am missing mirror, good headlights (well all lights), ameter, oilpressuregage, window frames (inner),doors, "horn button" on steering wheel.... and for sure some more bits and pieces for it. Yes, the small box(es) to go under the body on the rear corner is also missing, and two good petroltanks. Rolf |

WW2 morris parts here , are long gone . All the parts I find are on wrecks , and I mean wrecks ..... petrol tanks are always rusted out . Guages are normally a shell with a rusty face . Lights were thrown away by previous owners and rarely survive . These are my radiators salvaged from wrecks Mike |

This is typical of the wrecks here . Chassis looks like swiss cheese on this one .

Mike
It is the same here with the few MCC's I know... It is the same parts missing on all the wrecks. So perhaps we must join forces to get things like petrol tanks made up. Rolf |
tanks

yes Rolf
The petrol tanks can be made . You can reuse the ends , carefully cut them off and unsolder the bit left on. A good sheetmetal worker could roll up the round section . Mike |

I guess that is the way to do it... And feel free to mail me your drawings :) But since I only have one tank-spout, I will be needing one more... Guess they are not to rusted out, and perhaps someone have one or two? I am working on the list in betweene other jobs, so be patient, it will be finished as soon as possible. The biggest problem is to put prices in.... Don't wanna be to expencive, but hope some of my money :kangaroo back to me... Rolf |
spout
I have a few spare tanks, all rusty , but the filler neck or spout is OK to use again . Thya are brass . I also found brass wheel nuts on a CS8 , very weird .
Mike |
hmm
Brass wheel nuts?? Would they be strong enough??
Will se if I can reproduse a filler neck, and if not, I'll cry out for one of yours Mike ;) Rolf |
rolf
i need some banjos and bolts for the front wheels of my GS8. have you found any? thanks dave |
Dave
Do you have any parts numbers? Latest is that I get the parts home this week-end if I also is able to get home a container to store them in. So I am off to find a place to put the container. I do not have room for it on my own property... But then it is our anual meeting in our local branch of HMK, and I am in the board there so all saturday is gone. And I have deadline today on Mud & Snow so I will be needing the next week to finish the magazine. And I am tying to finishing the drawings of a houscomplex that we have to send in for aproval by the government as soon as possible, and then there is ... phu.. there is not enough houres in a week :( Rolf |
