The levers should attach to this little bracket.

Really useful for......

....disposing of empty beer cans across and over the neighbour's fence.

.... or intimidating the night clerk at the local corner convenience store....... can you imagine the look in the kids face....

Maybe that's why we have gun control...!!!

Hi Guys,

All the smoke discharger levers and cables have been sold/spoken for.

Bob,

I think the only Beer cans you could lob across the neighbors fence would be those massive Aussie Foster's cans as the barrel is 4" and I think using those may send the wrong message. Everyone knows that Alexander Keiths is the best tasting beer.

Beer

Anything is better than Foster's!

Back in 2005 a company called Springfield Sporters in the States had the Barrel Nuts for $5.00, the Triggers as fitted to the rifles $9.00, the cables and triggers $10.00, and the Barrels for $10.00.

The outer covers on the cables I received had cracked with age.

Quite if they have any left and and what price, interested people would have to check.

Springfield Sporters has about 300 sets of 4" dischargers. I have bought several sets for myself and friends over the last 10 years. The trouble is getting the owner to root through his warehouse to sell them to you. He won't sell out of the USA.

I have tried to buy 50 sets and then flog them off you the community, but he is all or nothing.

As it stands, I can come down to his shop and buy all he has.. price to be determined at the time. all the bits for one discharger, minus the actual rifle action is $50.00. time 300 units, =$15,000 to buy the lot. I am not able to do that. I had hoped for about $2,500 for 50 sets. I could handle that.

So.... there it sits... 300 tubes, cables, barrel nuts, Bendix trigger cables, Wood mag area replacements with pinned magazine well fillers, triggers drilled for the cable, and the widget to defeat the safety.

What do we do about them???

Jim
In PA - about 2 hours drive from the store.

Oh, the seller is the son of the man who started Springfield Sporters.... He doesn't seem to have the passion for it that his Dad did. Poor interntet site. Phone rings off the hook, a "can't be bothered" attitude to customer service. Yet when I finally got him on the phone, and started talking to him, he recalled as a child getting to ride in a Bren Carrier and having a blast with it. He did warm up enough to discuss selling the lot to me so people would quite bothering him about them. Really, it is more a case that this isn't his passion.

I loaned out my original barrel nut to a couple guys who had them copied. The machine work amounted to around $180 a nut.

Back in the day, the discharger tubes used to get seized by Canada Customs as controlled goods. They are now exempt due to their age, so it would be great if these were to come to market.

I have seen complete or near complete sets sell here for from between $250 to $500. There is some pretty good room for markup over the $50 purchase price.

Jim Burrill 02-01-15 00:22

I am torn.... I actually have several sets - my HAC has 2 and I have one for my carrier project..... I don't need anymore personally.

But I am so close to the guy as to make me the logical person to go over and get things,

Like I said, he can't be bothered to dig out a few....

Even if he dropped the (very cheap) price of 50 a set to half... that is close to $8,000.00 to buy him out...

I can't imagine getting more than 30 -40 sets..

Last ones I sent to the UK needed $100 each in machine shop work to weld a wire int he bore to make them "de-activated" and I don't know what all else non-US collectors would need to have done to them for legal import.

I have had several folks PM me about getting some, but this would need to rise to the level of a group buy. I may run a "plan B" by the fellow to try to buy 50 sets, but I would hate to tie up people's money waiting for me to get my hands on them. I would rather see someone higher up the foodchain with deeper pockets take over...

Well unfortunately I checked my supply out in the shed and in the gunroom and only managed to find a couple of the cables. I know I have more, but I have no idea where.

Sorry guys.
