trip to India: historical sights?

All,

I am lucky enough to get to travel to India, as my company is participating in Aero India 2007. I'll be in Bangalore from 7-9 Feb. and stay over in Mumbai on 10-11 Feb.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has any knowledge of any historical sights I could go and visit in Mumbai (Bombay)?
Any info on Bangalore is welcome too, although I most likely will not have any free time while I'm there.

Even better would be the home address of the Ford India company historian who has hoarded all the wartime files on CMP assembly! ;)

Thanks,
Hanno

Re: India

Hanno, I work with two Indian fellows who have been over there, one numerous times. He wasn't in today but I'll see him Monday. I will make the appropriate inquiries on your behalf.

Just noted your timings... I'll telephone the older bloke at home this weekend and report back (unless you want to speak with him directly).

Hanno:

If you can get to Agra, you will be impressed by the huge temple and reflecting pool before it.

Built as a tribute to a high ranking person, it has been described as the greatest erection for a woman by mankind.

Thanks all, I am sure the local tourist offices can point out he stuff regular tourists want to see (plus I have some 10.000+ and growing colleagues there, one of whom must surely be willing to point them out to me).

I was hoping someone could point out a small forgotten regimental collection someplace worth seeing. Any military history tips are welcome!

Too much to report, it really is an exhilirating experience. but wanted to share my bedroom view early this morning in Mumbai. Am now in Bangalore.

No CMPs sighted (yet?), but I saw two Holmes Wreckers sets which must have come from CMP Wreckers, two British 10-cwt trailers in use at the airport, carrier wheels used under carts.

More later!

H.
