Carrier Bits
I've never seen these bits on any Carrier. But what they are, who knows?

The metal plate with the little door is the cover over the radiator. The sheet metal bracket that he includes with it is for the Bren mag holder at the front of the carrier.
The other auction is for a POW can holder used on the mortar carrier. It is identical to the normal POW holder which would be on the back of the battery box, except that it does not have the sign bracket on the back, and it has an extra re-enforcing bar across the back. It would be mounted on the rear left mudguard. The other little piece with it is part of a gas tank strap for a mk1 carrier. Not sure what goes on a carrrier from oz, but a cdn Mk1 carrier would use these pieces. |
Epay Items in Oz
The first one is definately a P.O.L. holder for the rear of a British or Canadian carrier, but I don't know about the hinge - the picture isn't good enough to identify the object.
The second one is the top front plate of the engine cover over the radiator as stated in the post by Rob Love and the second piece is identified by the post from Jordan Baker on "Bren Spare Magazine Holder". Seller claims that he "doesn't know what these items are"....if only he'd been an MLU'er, he'd know all about them. For those interested....none of these objects fit Australian built carriers. Pedr...re the PO"L" phrase you have used: We use that term today in the Cdn military, but we used the Petrol, Oil, and Water (POW) term to refer to the contents of the "flimsy" cans back then. (And to the backbenchers who will now start the discussion about only the 4 gallon cans being flimsies, I know, but it still is the term everyone uses, so there.) Cheers. Rob |
