It came with my truck, in the pile of accompanying parts.

Two main parts

"hinged" by interlocking folds on the parts, closed by a winged screw, two caged nuts on the perpendicular face to the 4 mounting holes.

The hole on the end...

...is nicely finished with smoothe extensin into the box. You can run a finger around with no risk of cutting, the pair of holes in the other face with the caged nuts are not sharp, just less well finished.

I hope it's CMP related...

...but the P.O. had other military interests on the go as well.

The cab roof that came with the truck has the rectangular opening behind the driver's head that I think is unique to wireless versions. Don't put too much weight on this, because I think that two trucks were assembled into one.

Coil

My bet is it is the holder for the ignition coil. Wireless trucks were supressed for electronic interference in various ways, one of which was mounting the coil in a box fixed to the channel frame below the windshields rather than on the side of the engine head as on regular trucks.

Guess

Could it be a CMP version of a radio outlet box similar to the one found below the passenger seat on jeeps ?

Yes, annoying, isn't it? :p

BTW, Pinky, did you deliver Hannos handle at Action? If so, I have to forward you the cash.

Stewart, thank you

I think I'll start by asking the Duke of Hammond, he didn't admit to knowing the ID of the object but I think I heard him say he had a set of the Service Bulletins from Alex. I wonder what other goodies are buried in the Bulletins?

Bob Carriere 23-02-07 03:12

Bingo.....

.....Yep..... I got the bull - tin........ and that is what it is.....

Thanks everyone....and thanks Alex....

Supression system

Rolf, thank you for the photos. Now I need to find or fabricate the box around the distributor and any other parts of the kit.

Do you have the original engine cover? There seem to be two styles available. Jordan Baker has the one that I am putting in this posting on a wireless vehicle and I think my truck was built as wireless (no data plates or body to go by) and has the same style engine cover. Phil Waterman has two other styles of engine cover that I will post next. I would like to know if there is a relation between engine cover type and vehicle use.

Does anyone know of other differences between the "standard" vehicle and wireless vehicles that might not be expected exist.

So far this is only a trial fit because there is still other work to do around this area, but it looks like it belongs.
