C15 Help

G'day everyone, I am getting into restoring mu C15 which I have owned for about ten years but just never got around to doing much with it before.

The resto is based around a 6 seater utility but i want to restore it as a GS truck with a No 1 wooden body.

First problem, what rear springs should a GS truck use. The 6 seater rear springs have 8 leaves in the main spring, 3 short spacer leaves and 4 leaves in the auxillary spring. I have a parts truck which I think was originally a GS truck. It has 14 leaves main, 2 spacer and 6 aux leaves. i also have a WO73 radio van chassis which has the same springs as the 6 seater.

Next problem, should the steering tie rod be straight or does it have a bend in it. I have four tie rods to choose from but all have small bends in them. One of them is bent the same at both ends and looks like it could be original.

However, I suspect that it should be straight. I can't see any reason for it to be bent because there is nothing there for it to clear which is the usual reason for having a bent tie rod.

Thanks
Rod

steering arm

Rod
The steering arm I have has the same degree bend in each end and I believe this to be original.
I take this to be the arm which goes from the steering box drop arm to another arm attached to the plane arm off the king pin.

Jim S.
