hi people, a question, is the ford 2 speed/power takeoff transfer box the same inside and out as the ones fitted to chevs

Internally, the components are interchangable, but the external castings are different with the Ford mounting the extension arm for the shift levers to the outside of the case, while the Chev mounts the arm to a chassis crossmember and does not have the mounting holes on the case.
So a Ford case will go into a Chev vehicle using the Chev bracket, while a Chev case won't go into a Ford vehicle as you won't be able to mount the shift tower.

That is unless...
 

... you do what countless sawmillers have done and oxy-cut holes in the back of the cab for various levers and rods.

McKinnon Industries Ltd in St Catherines, Ontario, cast and produced the Chevrolet casings and gears, and may just possibly have supplied Ford at East Windsor as well although I am led to understand that Ford of Canada had an axle plant and could easily have produced their own components, perhaps say the outer casings?
