I have wired the service/blackout switch so that it operates my electric booster pump. This is the OCMP's secrete weapon against fuel vaporisation ;) |

Hello Pete
Nice pics of your dash panel . I was reading in the DND parts list , they used a key ignition switch in the earliest cab 11 trucks . My C8 came with the key type switch still in the dash . I didn't buy new C & T cables for it with the 'rose tan' knobs . Can anyone else add to the 11/12 cab dash panel list we have going here ? Mike |

Steve Stone’s non vented 11 cab C30 has a key ignition like the one in your C8. The 12 and early 13 cab ignition switches are the old key switch with a chrome face pressed over the top, a small peg engages in the face of the old key lock so that when the toggle is turned it turns the key barrel. Pete  |
Ignition Key
If you pop the sliding tab off the ignition switch shown above, you'll find there is a traditional key ignition underneath.

So nice when they are all done up...
Here is a picture of my Cab 11....obviously with a few extra switches.....
For some reason some one added a seperate ignition switch....but look closely at the original one.... it has a tab and the key hole???? Question of clarification..... you mentioned the "dip" switch....did cab 11 come standard with "hi" and "low" beam....??? those it means that the little slit for the "hi" beam at the top part of the instrument panel actually worked on these military vehicles..??? I am please to see that mine was not too butchered... Bob C. |

For references purposes here is a picture of an early Cab 11 C8 without vents........ saddly rusting away in Coe Hill.
I was amazed at how nice the original lettering of the panel had survived....... Notice carefully..... first switch on left is "Heater"..... what heater? and the igintion is a key type with no tab..... Hoping it may be useful for someone.... |

These are great photos of the dash. I posted an enquiry for help some time ago. I have a C8 and C15 12 cab and need the fuel gauge sender switch lever (2 of) (my original stolen while on display), 2 x Choke and 2 Throttle cables and one Canada badge. Are those switch name plates correct? if so does anyone know where to get them, original or repro? Actually, I could do with the light switch and Ignition switch as well as mine arent original either? Can any one help with these parts?

The heater switch would be part of the arcticized kit.. The switch was for the blower and there is a system of ducts and a round heat excanger that goes on the exhaust pip[e just below the floor ..exhaust in and out and air in and out.,..with the separating baffles in side much like the HX in your new furnace... Simple to manufacture should you want to add cab heat to any of the CNPs for cold weather operation.. I have all the parts and diagrams in my manuals.,..Drop by and have a boo.. |

Hi Pete, All, Thanks for the photos my top line of switches are slightly different. The large black one i have seen before but can not remember on what, i thinks its for throttle as it has a locking device in the middle for use with the winch. I found the ign switch on a 13 cab dash. would like your thoughts. Pete how is your main cluster held in as i don't see any retaining screws or bolts, mine has holes for bolts on each side. Cheers Dick

HI, forgot to ask. The plug socket on the left, is this standard. Cheers Dick

the socket is for a trouble light plug, we would call it a lead light in the UK, I've seen these on early LAA 30cwts and FAT's. I think I'm right in saying 13 cabs had them as standard fitting ? some of the other guys will be able to confirm/refute this regards Pete |

There should be two small studs welded onto the inner face of the engine cover 3/16 UNF from memory but may be smaller. The cluster has two small drilled lugs that match up and the assembly is held in place with nuts and lock washers in the normal way. There should be no bolt holes in the front of the engine cover for the cluster. I have seen a number that are bolted as a result I suspect of the studs shearing off while trying to undo them, a bit of rust on the threads and their toast. Pete |

light
Just my thoughts but the light socket appears to be an 'add on field mod' The choke and throttle controls are not original .
The repro choke/throttle cables or knobs are available from US vendors http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/p...=KB136&i=||||| http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/p...=KB102&i=||||| And https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail...With_Knob.html https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail..._Rose_Tan.html |

Two more Cab 12 dash panels that have the Inspection Lamp Socket provision:
|
Confirmed...
Hi Tony
The 5 cab 12s (parts) I have ALL have the light sockets....... |
And the Fords use the same or similar socket in the side of the dash panel.....
|
Still available.......
Jeep repro dealers sell a very very similar socket for dash mounting.... not sure what year civilian Jeeps had such an option.... repros have a chromed bezel which can be sanded and painted OD..... they must also have the matching male plug.
