Speedometer cable lenght

Can someone measure up the speedometer cable in their Canadian UC for me. Preferably from a MK1 as that is what I have.

Im having one made up but I just need to confirm the length. I know the manual state's 10'3" but we all know mistakes have been made in the manuals. I was thinking if I get one that is 11' long everyhting should be fine. Having a little extra wont be a problem but not enough, well lets just say it wouldn't work properly.

Thanks

If you have to make it longer, why not just an inch? you dont want lots of sags in it. It will just put more load on the drive gear, and wear it out. If you dont think the measurement in the book is right, just run your tape where the cable goes to check it.

Hi Lynn

Thanks for the suggestions. I was really concerned that I would get it and it wouldn't be long enough. my other problem is that Im not too sure on where the cable runs.

If someone could measure thiers for me to confirm that would be wonderful.

It mostly runs along the inside of the hull below the top edge. I can't remember exactly but there are (I think) 2 clips that bolt to the hull that hang down about 2 to 3 inches. It comes forward though the bulkhead, with all the wiring/ conduit etc to the speedo head.(cant remember the detail) At the rear, it swings around in a curve from the side to a hole in the rear of the engine cover, and down onto the speedo drive.-- I'm sure someone else will be able to improove on this vague description.
