Gracies Call 10 April 2007 - No Sh*t This Time!

Gentlemen/Rotters/MV types (or a combo of the three):

Take note: Wild Bill will be in town next week. The Rotters shall meet at Gracies in the East End (unless the westerners pipe up and convince us to move the venue - and I tell you, the girls had better be on par with or better lookin than the east end chicks)...at 1730 hrs local, 10 April 2007. Alex, let me know if you still need a map, seeing eye dog and boyscout to find the place.

Bring your party hats, and if you don't have one, I can fix you up. We still have six Rotters "anti-global-warming, cootie retainers" for sale. Samples will be on display.

Special attractions:

Wild Bill's arrival;
1956 Willis Jeep for sale;
CMP parts for sale;
Distribution of Rotter party hats;
Gunner's return from his "Conrad inspired adventure" - TBC;
Beer; and
The leggy ladies of Gracies!

Location Poll:

East Enders:

Carriere
Clarke
Bowker
Pylon
Blair
Wild Bill

West Enders:

Calnan
Wright

Feel free to add your name to the appropriate list...

Alex, ole bean,

I spent the majority of the past two weeks on the Sud Shore of Mount Royal and hence was out of contact with the civilized world. I was twice surprised when the bros Mackie showed up at the Hammond Barn. Apparently, someone who lives in Hammond, near the barn, and answers to the name Boobee had prior knowledge of this event...but I won't rat him out.

I'll get right on that black hat deal!

servicepub (RIP) 03-04-07 00:10

NO promises (all the women in my life tell me that I can't commit) but I will try to be there. The competition is a GDLS open house (read - free booze and food) and the opportunity to pick up literature on their latest offerings. If so I will pick up the hat (cheque was mailed this afternoon), failing that I will get it at BB2.

Since nobody has said there's a change...

... is it safe to conclude that the gathering will in fact take place at the usual East end location on Ogilvie Road as opposed to half way to Sault Ste Marie?

Geoff Winnington-Ball (RIP) 07-04-07 00:57

Having just spent a month in Oz, I'm afraid I shan't make this call, much to my chagrin. If anyone from the Toronto area is going, I have a few bits for Bob Carriere, if we can hook up before then.

Laddies, I'll do my best to make the next Gracie's Call, but for now, consider me there in-spirit.

The usually noisy westerners (of Ottawa that is) have remained very quiet on this one. I heard that the western Gracies girls were 36-24-36 (same for the other leg).

So, I confirm, the next Gracie Call will be at Grace O'Malley's on Olgilvie Road, Ottawa.

Bob Carriere 08-04-07 02:22

As usual....

I shall be there.......... for Willy and for the girls.....

Glad to see you back safe and sound Jiff...... was in TO the last two days but pace too hecthic.... will be back East of stinky town possibly by months end to pick up some elusive pieces.... will try to connect as we go through the big TO.......

May need some of your insight by menas of a PM.....

It is with many and varied great obscenities that I cast a hex on those for whom I work!!

Alex, I will phone you some time today and explain.
Happy Easter to you all.

Bill,

Word has gotten out! The lassies at Gracies are wailing with grief. They tell me that it was bad enough that Clive was hemming and hawing, but this was too much for their girlie hearts...

However, the meeting will go on! The agenda will be amended accordingly. Note that Gunner has returned safely! A slide show and colour commentary (no puns intended...) will be given by Mr. "Heart of Darkness" hisself.

Now, what the hell am I going to do with those New Brunswick Rotter hats???

After all that bellyaching and whinging about not being given notice of these events, he finally gets ample warning and this is how he repays us?

Maybe someday, he will grace us with his presence and an Iltis trailer full of goodies...

Alex, Alex, Alex,

I see it will be a chore dragging you thru the last century ...How many times do I have to tell you that I wear a digital watch. My computer has a digital clock, as does my microwave, stove and furnace controller. Nary an analog chronometer to be seen much less any "hands" (which in reality look like "arms"). It's called advanced technology. Try it, you will like it and you will never again at noon have to look outside to determine if it is AM or PM.

Good news on the Clive situation. At least the girls will have someone suave to serve.

Of course, you have to be able to count that high to be able to read the time, so that lets out some of you Ottawa-area lads. We forgive you, though, living in a society of simple servants and politicians can't be all that easy, even if you DO chase down Blitz Bitz from time-to-time. One hopes, though, that regular contact with Torontonians will eventually rub off on you in a positive way.

Funny you should mention rubbing off. Well the Rotters Meeting at Gracies went off without a hitch. We had eight hardcore Rotters show up for a fun night. Tonight was "Hat Night" where the local Rotters received their personalized chapeaus. I presented Bob Carriere with a cheque for $150.00 which represented the hat donations to date for Bob's BBQ No 2 this summer. Bob was speechless (momentarily), but managed to thank the mob for their donations. As a note, three tan hats remain for sale - $30.00 gets you an original Rotters baseball style hat with custom embroidery and contributes to BB2.

Gunner once again provided a slideshow of his African and British adventures. This trip saw Mike wrapping up his Polstens for shipping back home. Next trip may involve even more repatriation of Canadian wartime goodies, but I will leave that story for Mike to expand upon when the time is right.

Jif, we saw Jesse tonight. She was looking splendid modelling your Rotters hat. Our waitress du jour was Bonnie, who tolerated us in the best Gracies tradition.

Wild Bill joined us in spirit thanks to some of Alex's magic. All will be explained with photos that follow.

Future Gracies Calls will include briefings (TBC) on Iltis Canadian,
45 HUPs, C15s, Windsor Carriers, and updates on BB2. Plenty of notice will be given of upcoming calls, so you will have lots of time to plan on joining us.

Some seed money for Bob's BBQ 2, to be held sometime this summer in Hammond Ontario. Hopefully, in conjunction with either the Gatineau Airshow or the Ottawa Vintage Airshow at Rockcliffe...time will tell.

Rob,
I just look out the window to check that:
1. it is the sun and not the moon making the shadows
2. my nieghbour hasn't "borrowed" my sundial stick
3. the shadow is very short.
Then I know it is lunch time.
Do you really need more precision?
This method doesn't need batteries (witness Gunner's experience tonight).

Alex,

There was no intent to portray you in any manner other than that expected of a former blue job...by the way, a belated Airforce Birthday - celebrated by the airdales on 1 April...wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more!

As for the weather rock, don't you think you are kinda old to be sleeping in a crib.

As for the war, unfortunately, it is still going on. God bless our troops!

Chris you got it all wrong, the mob pays Bob (not to parade around in his Nacho Libre outfit).

Besides, we Ottawa Rotters will accept any donations to the BB2 cause.

Where's me stickers?
