43 cabbed Ford SM2543
Has anyone any original photos or info on Ford 3 tonners with a 43 cab supplied to SM2543?

Mystery
Alan I have absolutely no information about any Demand with that number, and no information about any # 43 Cab Fords apart from the F30B Bofors, and the C298TFS of 1944, or F602S. The Demand appears to be a 1942 one from its number. The only known, to me, # 43 Cab was the Chevy 6-pounder Portees that were rebuilt to G/S lorries in 1943(ish).
Have you any further details please? |
Hi David,
This is the information on the dataplate attached to the dash supplied by a member... CHASSIS: F 60448-M CAB 43 CHASSIS SERIAL 170726 ENGINE SERIAL:4G-25350-F SM2543 BUILT JAN. 8-44 The truck does appear to have a steel roof though! |
Amazing!
It is evidently a F60L, therefore presumably model C298QF. It appears to have had a 1943 Model engine in it but I have no idea where it was sent to..India possibly, or what it was used for, or even whether any photos exist. I have to say that I keep finding these new Ford demands which far outnumber the Chevrolet ones. This is a real mystery!
I also as said before had no idea of any other # 43 cab three-tonners other than the ill-fated Chevrolets, and the F602S of which I have also yet to see any photo! |
Its actually in Namibia, Africa.
