Help with Trunk, please.
 

Hi guys,
I picked up this trunk today named to Lieut. Col. G.C. McArthur. The other marks I don't know what they stand for and I know there are alot of military types here who would know.
Also was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on the Lieut. Col. as my online searches have turned up nothing. Thanks,

The markings on the trunk, are for the: -

1. - C.R.C.A.S.C. - is: - Commander Royal Canadian Army Service Corps

2. - C.A.S.F. - is: - Canadian Active Service Force

3. - the maple leaf on the red square background is the Formation Sign for the 1st Canadian Infantry Division

4. - the figure '40' on the green/red background, is the Arm of Service marking that denotes the Commander Royal Canadian Army Service Corps of an Infantry Division (or HQ C.R.C.A.S.C.)

so in plain English, it reads that the truck belongs to:

Lieut. Col. G.C. McArthur
Commander Royal Canadian Army Service Corps
1st Canadian Infantry Division
Canadian Active Service Force

Lieut. Col. G.C. McArthur's name has come up before and I've actually seen this somewhere before, where did you get the trunk from.

I picked it up at an antiques store near Brantford. Do you remember where you saw it? Or where Lt. Col. McArthurs name was mentioned before. I did a search here and only turned up this thread.

There are slight differences in the lettering on the trunk I have and the trunk she is describing, unless there is more lettering on the inside of the trunk.
The trunk is locked and I haven't been able to pick the lock yet.
You will notice that my trunk has no ED at the end of his name.
I will post more when I get the darn thing open.
