Looking Good
This is first post restoration drive, but did you get to drive it before you started working on it? Had you driven a CMP before you started working on this one. The reason I ask is that I was lucky my first CMP a HUP was driveable, ran great had almost no brakes though, so I had some idea what I was getting into. So many of the people starting on CMPs now are starting with real non-runners.
Keep up the good work, get the nose on it and enjoy driving it on the road. HUPs are great fun because they are a reasonable sized and can carry 6 people. I agree with Bob more pictures. Cheers |
HUP cont.

It's a 1942. I took lots of pictures but they were to help me put it back together not to document the project.
I have a HUW from the Brian Wood collection that is a weekly driver. It has a nonoriginal GS style body but I have a seperate HUP body that could be fitted. I'll have to take some pictures of it since now that the HUP is mobile I'll likely sell the HUW. |
Interesting...
John,
Could you photograph the tow hook set up? Some close ups would be appreciated. |
tow hook
The tow hook would have been a field modification. I dont think HUPs were ever fitted with production hooks. The welding on the tow hook bracket is way too good to be from 1942.

Oh, excellent - so nice to see that, very inspiring - your six-years-on makes me feel better about my state of progress at 2.5.
I was lucky enough to start with a just-driveable vehicle, but I have a long way to go yet to have it rolling again. Pretty sure HUPs were not normally set up for towing - I cut off a bodged-up towbar that was on mine - all I should have back there on the PERS-3 is the toolbox. |
