Warning to Canadians.......the US will not allow export of this type gun to anyone but a museum, the military, or a police force. You might be able to get one from another country, but the US has closed it's borders to anything 50 cal and up.

Otherwise....nice rifle and not a bad price in my opinion.

I wasn't going to have a go at the Boys but now I'm curious. Is the export ban aimed at weapons the boys in the hood might use as part of a criminal enterprise or is it all encompassing, including things like cannons from the Civil War (what war is civil?)?

Can't say about the civil war cannons, but 50 cal, and even some of the smaller calibers like the .338 Lapua, and the .416 cartridge, are all prohibited from export to civilians. So are barrel blanks, and parts and accessories for these guns.

And if you do manage to get a 50 cal Boys, you will have a bit of trouble finding ammo for it. The US won't allow the export of brass cases, primers, or bullets for 50 cal. Here in Canada 50 cal ammo is now at $8 per round, and drying up.

Still, even at $8, it is still cheaper (and more plentiful) than trying to find Boys ammo which will run you from $25 to $40 a round when you can find it.

So how do we register.....
 

....... as small individual military museums.....???? The paper work should kill them if we all chipped in for applications....

There are other restrictions on modern military stuff.....

Some of the Ebay regualr large sellers will not even sell and ship to a US address if they know that you are a Canadian using a UPS mailbox across the border....... they told me that it was too much trouble to make the differentiation between wheel bearing for a M37 circa 1952 and parts that woudl fit a modern issue surplus military vehicle.......

The Ebay system is such that your bids will no longer be accepted on such sites as AB Linn in North Carolina..... and this afetr doing business with him for years......

Oh well just that more stuff to bring across the border after visitng the NH Weare truck show....

Someone in the bureaucratic heirarchy will be truly pissed at the administrative burden created, but imagine the look of rapture on the term clerk's face as they realize that as a group we've extended their contract for the next 15 years.

Well. here we go again with one of these meandering threads. Where it will stop, nobody knows. It may even find it's way back to a Boys rifle for sale.


You won't piss off bureaucrats..they live for useless paperwork, and layer after layer of meaningless regulations, after all that is how they earn their pensions. Lots of requests mean you can build your empire a bit bigger and hire more people, thus raising you on the seniority list.


I have also found that many US companies will not sell military vehicle parts and tools to Canada. One seller on ebay refused to take my bid on a bren carrier track adjusting cam tool, because he said he couldn't export it. If you look at Surplus City Jeep parts ads, they ist the documentation they must get to export parts out of country.

Perhaps if we all register as the same Military Museum, we could all be different annex's of the same group. That way we can tell 'em that we are transferring to another annex for display purposes only.

Might circumvent their import / export rules as museums are permitted to transfer displays amoungst themselves.

I wouldn't even consider selling this weapon to someone in Canada. Isn't there anyone in the US who owns a bren gun carrier and needs a boys? Maybe this will get the topic back to the original subject. Rod
