2 pdr carrier
 

Just posted a page with some 2-pdr carriers including this recently completed example owned by John Arnott. Hopefully next Corowa we will see three of these carriers identically painted lined up.

Hi Keith,
Many thanks for posting the pic of John Arnotts two pounder, I checked out your latest update and its great just what we need so that we can all see these rare machines as we are not all lucky enough to be able to find one,and its great that some of their owners are willing to share them with us on this site,

Keith, I've got couple of pics of a 2pdr Carrier which show the side armour intact and the gun pointing forward over the head of the driver. The pic is small but if you blow it up you'll see what I mean. Is this type common or was it from another country's arsenal?

The one you pictured is Canadian in design and manufacture; we made a sum total of 24 of them early in the war, primarily for west-coast defence against an imagined Japanese invasion. There is a surprisingly large percentage of them still around, but that's because they were never shipped overseas (except for the odd sample given to the Brits I believe).

The one(s) Keefy has shown are of Australian design and manufacture, and are unique.

Might want to check your text on 2Pdr page.

I think that its the other way around, John and co own the manual pictured one 6146, and Bandiana 6176.

Hmmm, you've given me a great idea for a possible future resto.

The much feared Jap invasion of the West Coast (John Belushi, 1941) never materialized. Other than I-26 shelling the Point Estevan light house and the odd Fire Balloon drifting over, the war on B.C.'s coast was relatively quiet. By the way, Jefe, did you hear the conspiracy theory about how the shelling of the lighthouse was actually done by a U.S. warship in order to bolster P.M. MacKenzie-King's bid to implement conscription? Good theory until you realize that the Yank's didn't land 5.5in. guns on their ships. However the Japs did and after the war the captain of I-26 admitted to shelling the lighthouse.
Now, onto the Lusitania!

No mate I was not intending to have a dig sorry if it seemed that way.I was just telling Keith that I thought it was good to see some more of these rare machines, and I would not ask or expect you to post any pic with out asking the owners permission, sorry for any misunderstanding,
