More safely across the border

The CMP guards on the SA-Vic border have again been caught napping with the safe arrival of a Chevrolet Field Artillery Tractor and a Ford F15 from South Australia.

Here are some pics of the Arty Tractor and of course the F15.

You'd think they'd have someone like an ex Federal copper on guard, wouldn't you! :D

UH-OHHHH.... :D :D :D

PS: Love the tailgate stickers! :yappy:

Border Raiding

Hi Keefy
We have a policy here in South Oz to clear out all Chevrolets so no real harm done. However I will have a word to my ex. Federal Copper mate about not issuing a clearance certificate and I will definitely be having BIG WORDS with Hugh about this interstate collaboration. Maybe he is a closet Mexican.

:D Bob :D

Excellent photo journal, Keith. Is the CGT8 yours?

Another question I have is re. the colour. You state it is deep bronze green, but re-reading some of Mike Starmer's material, I wonder if it could be S.C.C. 13 (‘Jungle Green’) or S.C.C. 16 Very Dark Drab?

Tony Smith 07-08-07 01:39

Bob, maybe you should be talking to Max. Nothing gets past their Footrot Quarantine Inspectors without them knowing about it!

CGT

Hi Hanno,
The CGT I have added to my collection, it's a good base for a future restoration in all my spare time. :D Next week end we hope to have it running & work out how much work is in a #8 body rebuild. I have been collecting fuel tanks & body parts for the job.

Hmmm... Hanno we are talking about an Australian #8 GT here not an English one so the colour would be Australian Service Green. :)

CGT colour

CMP vehicles kept into the 1950s and 60s were painted in gloss deep bronze green as a low maintenance colour as they required repainting.

G'day All, What happened to the Land Rover 109" fitted with a Bamford winch, did HD take it back to S.A., cheers Dennis :sheep:

It got as far as Hamilton where it was offloaded due to the loading of a Chev Peters crane and a Matador, so it's for a future pickup. It belongs to Aaron.

Dinty 07-08-07 12:11

G'day All, Thanks for that Keith, I just love those Matadors, my late Dad worked for AEC before the war, there were several Mat's in this part of the world, some still here but way too far gone 2 restore (well for me anyway at 58+) cheers Dennis :sheep:

Yes, I loved the irony of the fact I had to shoot a commercial for the Greens Party the week before See the video segments here - they're the ones with the sky background, shot against a green screen in a tiny recording studio.

I must admit he's quite a pleasant and personable character to work with, but we were just doing the job for an advertising agency client, not because I necessarily agree with their policies.

But were they painted on all inside/under bonnet surfaces as well?

Thanks Cliff, seems I need to do some reading up on Aussie colours.

I still think Brown Blitzes Are Best. . .

I'm not so sure about that, H. My understanding is (that when it comes to trucks at least), Keefy is bisexual.

"An Arab stopped at the Airport by a Security Officer
Security Off: Sex
Arab: 5 times a day
Security Off: No, I mean Male or Female.
Arab: Oh. ... Male , Female, Sometimes even Camel."
