Cab 11/12 "air conditioner" ducts

Anyone know where (in Canada or the US) I can get some 3 in. flexible ducting for the "air conditioner" for my F8? Even plastic stuff would do!

Are you sure......

Hi David

Are you sure about the size.....???

Chev's are only wee little holes...... they start big but funnel down to about 2 inches.....

We can compare size when you come down for BB2.... you show me yours and I will show you mine...!!!!

Seriously...... I beleive the paper/fabric wire coil is probably available from various repro parts suppliers..... it is very similar to the duct work used on heating ducts of early 50 to 60 cars when heaters were still an option and before they converted to molded plastic duct work.....

Pretty sure that my Ford is 3 inches at each end of the metal ducting - I'll check at the cottage again tomorrow.

3" duct

Hi David,

As a last resort you may try the local Home Depot, I believe that you can get 3" Aluminum flexible duct for clothes dryers.

Cheers,

Souces for ducting

You may want to try www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/ap/ducting.html
These people sell to the homebuilt aircraft market so like "milspec" their prices may be "FAA Approved" high compared to Princess auto, also their sizes are not even inches.

You may also want to look at www.McMaster.com and search on "duct", they have many sizes and types.

Can you confirm the size?

Can you confirm the size of the duct you need ID of the duct would be the most helpful.

Here is one source http://www.cgfordparts.com/Early_Ford_Parts.htm

online catalog for 32-56 car and PU do a search for "CLOTH HEATER DEFROSTER HOSE" for the different sizes.

Pattern 12 Chevys use 2 1/2 ID duct.

duct pricing

It looks to me as if C&G is cheaper than Aircraft Spruce...guess which I'd go with...no surprise given the price ratio for identical lookig alternators when used for airplane as opposed to car. (FAA approval process)
