Looks interesting

Does some one have a picture of what the unit would look like mounted?

If we're talking about the same thing, there's at least one pic somewhere in the '07 Corowa coverage here. I haven't time to dig for it right now, so have at it!

wartime pic

how about a wartime pic of this mount in use. Forgive my ignorance but I assume its a mount for the LMG on a post for AA protection??

cheers

Mount

The 'Gallows' mount had an internal cable and counterweight - here's a pic of a Wireless Signals (Aust) on a C15A with the gallows mount fitted.

And another:

And there's a large pic here of a No9 (Aust) Ford gun tractor where it was positioned over the second hatch.

Fantastic. Really nice to have the sizes stored so if anyone in the future wishes to recreate it they can. Thanks for taking the time to do it. :)

1941 Plymouth ute . Otherwise - 12cwt GS Van in army parlance . The passengers cushion seat sat on a wooden base , he stood on the board , out the hatch, whilst shooting down zeros .

The Aust. mod. White O.P. scout car had one also .

Here are 4 Gallows mounts made into a farm gate. This is the second one I have seen in my travels. I've been trying to select a theme for this photo so it's here instead of a Swords into Ploughshares theme

Note that the M3A1 White Scout Car was LHD, so the Gallows is mounted on the right side (passenger's) side.

Gallows gate

Hey Rick, I hope you offered the farmer a new gate in exchange for the gallows one.
