Hi All

Saw this vehicle for sale as I was driving by on the Hwy 1 yesterday.

Found the link today:

I have no connection to sale or seller.

That is U.G.L.Y. at a tenth the price! Idiot.

mike mckinley 28-08-07 03:08

hello darrell

that "thing" lives about 20 minutes down the highway from me. i stopped for a look about a month ago and i sincerely hope someone else enjoys that larc. it seem to me there is a similar vehicle in halifax

cheers!!
mike

Hi Mike

So that's "up" the Hwy and not "down"? :D

St Andrews perhaps?

That's where I was, taking in a Whalewatching trip with my girls and the visiting Mother-In-Law. We sure had a nice day.

Geoff

I think the asking price is geared around it being a business/money-making tool and not neccessarily a restorable MilPat veh. I still think it's rather steep though.

Darrell

In prairie parlance, you go up north, down south, over east, and out west.

hi darrell

i'm in maces bay, so i drive out hwy 790 until i reach ex86 at hwy 1. if i head east to saint john it's up the hwy, west to st. george is down the hwy. you should have stopped in bonney river, a stones throw from the larc...there are a couple of heavily modified m151a2's out there...probably used for ridge running.....no doubt there is a still near by :smoker:

rob love 29-08-07 04:58

I am with Cletrac on this one. Up north, down south, etc.
This is standard farm practice, and with it you save words. Go up the road, over a mile, then down two. See?

Just like the farmer of few words on that Babe movie: "Thats enough pig".

As to that DUKW, I think I am going to sell everything I own so I can buy her and sail down(that means South to you non-prairie guys) to the carribean. I won't have to worry about pirates cause they will be too busy laughin at me, and the bermuda triangle sure wouldn't want it either.

Hmmmm. We in Tronna go out west, up north, down east and down south. We also go 'out in the country' as in "We gotta git outta this damn city and git a place out'na country instead. Whaddeya think, eh?". 'Out of town' is another popular one: "Yer from outta town, eh? Where ya tryna go?".

Tryna goto torono.

Agreed, the language of the inhabitants of the hamlet of Toronto is different. After all, when the universe revolves around your very whims, anywhere beyond the ever increasing town boundaries is out.

The big difference with Toronto is that rather than trying to say a lot with few words, they tend to say very little with a lot of words. At least this is representative from the broadcasts we see from your personalities like your mayor, police chief, Jack Layton, etc.

Sorry we didn't get the Maces Bay, Mike but our trip that day was geared around standard military precision and timings..........................meaning: Whatever the Long-haired General wanted me to do, go, see etc; I did. :salute:

save the whale photo

What a photo. Its a killer? I wonder what it would look like on its back. I can't imagine how much trill it would consume.

Richard Notton 01-09-07 08:54

Re: save the whale photo

Come in handy when you need to park your bicycle; sort of think McSpool could use in Holland. . . . . . . . .

R.

colin jones 01-09-07 10:42

Parking a bike is one thing but make sure you've got big handle bars or you might lose it. Then again it would be good for a trike.
Still a funny pic.
Colin.

hi darrell

that's the one i was talking about in halifax. my experience was that it was it was headed towards us on a narrow street....and i wasn't long getting out of the way. that paint they have used to attract tourists makes me want to vomit!!!

Geoff Winnington-Ball (RIP) 03-09-07 20:16

Fire up SACKVILLE and run that ugly thing over in mid-harbour! Then you could stop engines, lower boats and re-enact rescuing survivors from a sinking in the North Atlantic!

My word, I'm brilliant! Amaze m'self sometimes... :note:

Hey, belay that gibberish, Landlubber!

HMAS Whyalla is preserved near Port Augusta, SA.

Err sorry , but we've got HMAS Castlemaine . What a corvette is exactly , may be up for dispute/discussion .

http://www.hmascastlemaine.com/page1.htm

The "Bathursts" were entirely an Australian effort, arguably the most significant Naval effort made by the nation during World War II. Their story began in early 1940 with orders for ten minesweepers from the Royal Navy and seven from the RAN. In some respects they were modeled after the British "Bangor" class minesweepers. They also very closely resembled the British "Flower" Class corvettes. Indeed, they are often referred to as "corvettes" by those who served in them.

Mike

Geoff Winnington-Ball (RIP) 04-09-07 03:18

PFFFTT!!

Pshaw... mere rowboats compared to a Flower Class Corvette which saw service in the North Atlantic!! :D

http://www.hmcssackville-cnmt.ns.ca/

Plus, we have HMCS HAIDA, the most veteran and famous ship of the RCN... and the world's last surviving TRIBAL CLASS destroyer as well!

Family resemblance

Hi Darrell:

Amazing how a family resemblance carries through the generations... they all look exactly the same, sort of smurfish!

 Mike
