Land Rover LRPV (Long Range Patrol Vehicle)

The Series 2A LRPV (Long Range Patrol Vehicle) was modified and used by the Australian SAS (Special Air Service) during the 70's and 80's.

I have two of these original LRPVs. Both are 1969 models but have slightly different R.O.P.S configurations.

As these vehicles are ex SAS, there is little information available to the general public including photographs.

I am collecting together info and photos so that I can finish off my latest LRPV aquisition (174-323) to 'in service' status. This will include all weaponry, comms equipment, cammo gear and all ancillary equipment.

Any info will help.

I am aware of the LRPVs at the Bandiana Army Museum and SAS Museum, Perth.

The following photos are -

More information on these vehicles can be found on REMLR.

One of stuarts vehicles is on there described as Brians (or BB's) LRPV. I'm yet to change the page to reflect TommyK's purchase of the vehicle from Brian.

Information on the vehicles is indeed few and far between. An article on the vehicles should be appearing in an edition of the Land Rover Enthusiast magazine very soon. Hopefully the edition after the one that is about to come out.

Very cool. Those Perenties the Oz SAS operate are rather awesome, too.

I'm glad you like them Kuno.

As the Special Air Service used these vehicles exclusively, there are not many original photos floating around. You know, top secret stuff shouldn't be photographed whilst in service.
I am working on 174-323 at the moment by equipping it with equipment and weapons (replicas) so when I have finished I will post more photos.

Regards
Tommy K
