Sold the Lp2a and bought a Blitz
Gday everyone in the MLU land,
I have not posted anything for some time and thought i would share some pictures of my latest aquisition. I have been fortunate to pick up a C15 pie van , this came at a cost with me selling off the carrier project to Rocket Ron Winfer :) Who has the time and the workshop to get the carrier running. The best thing about the chev is that the hardwork has already been done as the blitz is on the road registered so i can enjoy going on MJCQ club runs whenever :cheers: Hope you enjoy the pics if they ''load'' :eek: :mad: |

The Woodville production figures for the Wireless signals body:
1942 78 1943 1142 A little known add on .. they were originally intended to have a PTO driven generator .. run from the gearbox ... to charge the wireless batteries ... you can see the hole in the floor to acomodate the on-off lever . This idea was similar the British wireless vehicles which used the PTO gene setup with a charging panel to switch the system . In practice it seems none of them were actually fitted out with the PTO generator and they went for the briggs and stratton stand alone gene instead .. maybe the supply of the large PTO DELCO generators was slow to arrive from Nth America . I don't think many of them left Australia . Has anyone got any pics of them up in the Islands ? A ham radio op was killed in one up near Bandiana when the truck rolled over .... Mike |

Thanks for all of your replies, firstly keith i ordered the number plates on the idea that i thought it was a 42 , going off the chassis number 2842100090B i thought that the first number was the year model? There are no dates on the gearshift plate on the doghouse.\ Mike there is definately a slot in the floor for a ''PTO'' lever off the gearbox i wondered what this was for now i know cheers :thup: Jeff i will see you on friday of the swap , i believe i owe you a couple of rums for your assistance with the ''POINTS'' incident :yappy: :cheers: their is a body plate on the front clip under the bonnet ''usual place'' i will record the numbers and post them here cheers matty |

Is there a body plate on the sill on the passenger side as well?
That one should have the body type and individual body serial number. |

The plate on the passengers side sill has been removed , but the following is what is on the under bonnet tag: HOLDEN BODY No.531D MODEL. W/O FRT.END SERIES No. 44 10225 Does any of this make sense and how do i get the vehicles ARN |

The way to find the ARN is extremely tortuous but can be done by visiting the War Memorial and going through 'AWM 126' which is the series of books with ARN, chassis and engine numbers. It is arranged in ARN order with no cross referencing but if you have patience you will find it. |

I guess that i might have to make a trip to the AWM. On the other matter re: the chassis number, does the 2 mean that the chassis was built in 42 and the vehicle bodywork assembled by holden at brisbane in 1943 . I dont have great deal of history on this particular vehicle but i do know that it was used by the BRISBANE CITY COUNCIL in a postwar service vehicle role. have to go now severe thunderstorms hanging around, cheers matt :salute: |
