Aussie Chevrolet Ute on Parade
1 Attachment(s)
Thought you might like to see a picture of my '44 Chevrolet Ute now that it has been returned to military spec. Body and brightwork were so good I just could not bring myself to cover it all up with warpaint' so decided on a 'home service' colour instead.
Had a busy season completing some 1800 miles including a trip to France and Flanders where the photo was taken during the VMA 'Le Pas de Calais' weekend at Souchez (Bethune tour as it used to be). Ian :kangaroo |
Very nice and thanks for sharing. Australia did not have a 'home Service' colour and the green looks a bit dark for an Australian Service Colour. Still nice to see the old girl looking so good though. :)

Ian,
They are a nice looking vehicle and yours is an excellent example of the breed. I see it's sporting a 9 Div formation sign, but what unit is represented by the LH tac sign ? Jack |
Colour/Tac signs

Cliff,
Photo actually makes it look darker than it is, one attached is better indication of shade. Jack, As the vehicle came from WA I finished it in the local unit markings of the 2-7 Field Regiment RAA being part of the 9th Australian Division. Ian :kangaroo |
yes second photo looks better. You have done a nice job on her and have a right to be proud. :)

Mike,
Your man acts very quickly, this photo was only taken at the weekend! Morris belongs to John Sayer and I was planning to take the WOC1 to keep it company, but I just love the ute too much. Did he manage to get the inside? Ian  |
Nice

Your ute is one of the better examples I have seen over the years . In the 70's , a ute same as yours lived in the next suburb to me , it was dark blue , at the time I had a 46 Dodge ute , also dark blue , many a wave I got from people thinking it was the Chev . Does anyone have contact details for John Sayer , the Morris owner ? My informant also took a few other snaps at the airshow . I particularly like the colour of this MW Bedford ... Is it Light Bronze Green ? Mike |

MW/Morris

Mike,
The MW belongs to Peter Sayer, the uncle of the Morris owner. The Morris Quad belongs to Dougie Sayer the Morris owner's father! (we are a close knit family organisation in deepest Suffolk complete with webbed fingers). Did your spy take a photo of the quad from the other side by chance, if so you will also know he was showing both the limber and 25 pounder. Hell of a good looking trio on the road. I have a feeling the MW is finished in faded British army IR military paint of the mid seventies, with a number of applications of WD40 over the years. Will look up and forward details of John Sayers address. This is the alternative transport I originally intended taking. Ian |
Not another Sayer
