Maritime Command Museum "Admiralty House" Bofors

I had to make a quick trip into Halifax today on business and I wanted to take a moment to snap some photos of the 40mm Bofors on display at Admiralty House inside CFB Stadacona for reference. I'm reaching the stage where I'm going to install my armoured shields and wanted some detailed photos.

Well, below is what I found, what a sad display out for all to see. I cannot believe a facility like this would allow its items to fall into such a poor state.

The damage (rot) to the platform is so bad the tubing that supports the Right front armour shield is gone, the left gunners seat stem is rotted away as well. They put a brick under the left side to prop it up in place. At least they keep the grass tidy.

The corrosion looks no worse than any other piece of metal on the East side of the Manitoba/Ontario border.

Outdoor displays pay the price of the elements. Without volunteers to do the work, even that coat of gray paint ends up costing the museum many hundreds of dollars.

Pinched?

Those elevating and traversing handles look to be in pretty good shape in those photos. Were they still there when you left?
