LP2A found
 

I have been busy following up leads that I have put off for too long. After finding several vehicles I found one that suited me and the location was right so I purchased it for the right price. Not too sure what exactly I will do with this one yet (I still have to assess it).
The funny thing was that while I was looking at this vehicle and taking many photos and talking to the owner my very understanding wife and children were in the car as it was very cold. I only informed her that we had bought the vehicle when we were driving off, I was laughing- she was punching. Later when she had settled down, I explained that it was better to ask for forgivness than permission when collecting Bren Gun Carriers.
More details to follow when I collect the vehicle this week. I will endevour to keep you informed of my progress.

Seems to be a few carriers appearing of late.

I must remember to get the hull numbers from one of the club members down here that has 2 or 3 carrier hulls.

Ford NSW Aust LP2 1941
 

Several months back I posted this pic of a Bren Gun Carrier that I found, I have since recovered it and cleaned it out.
It is a Ford NSW LP2 made in 1941, Hull #1864.
This vehicle was sold off at Bandiana Vic after the war and was bought by Baker Motors a car dealership (now the Mitsubishi/Hyundai dealership) in the area, they removed all the mechanicals to on sell for local vehicles. The hull was then sold to the Electricity co in the area, who bought them for the steel. In the 1950s steel was short, when steel could be more readily bought the left over or un-cut hulls were sold off to the local farmers in the area. This vehicle was bought for it's steel, fortunatly the farmer never got around to really cutting it up. It still has many little fiddly bits and I have used it for this purpose, to measure and copy to reproduce the parts that I will need at a later stage. I am currently short on space.

The vehicle recovery, pushed it on with a tractor, strapped it down and off we went, early one Saturday morning.
Would this qualify as a Bren Gun Trailer from a previous thread??

A shot of the rear area, the RH side has been cut out and a circle cut from the L side of the hull. The floor is in good condition in the rear. Part of the air scoop and bulkhead has been cut.

Hi Darrin, Thats a good looking hull you have there, and plenty of fittings still attached as you say. Good find. Are you going to bring this one back to life or use it as a donor. Please keep us informed. Cheers David.....

It is a good hull with lots of little fittings etc in it, I was in two minds when I bought it- either restore it now and all the parts I have would go into it or put it away for later. I currently do not have the room to restore it and with my job/occupation; time would be tight and it would be moved part way through the restoration.
If I was to put it away for later there would be even less of the vehicle to restore and it would just waste away and be of no use.
So that the vehicle does not go to waste and while it is still restorable, I have decided to part with it- best offer taken (must cover my costs).
I am very keen to restore a Bren Gun Carrier and realising that I will not live forever to restore everything, I will concentrate my efforts with my other hull. This vehicle has given me much information so that I can remanufacture parts etc.
If no one is interested, unfortunatly I will have to cut it up for the parts. It is easier to store and move smaller parts than the complete hull.
