Bedford QLR trailer

Hi,

what kind of trailer is this, and was it used in WW2 together with the Bedford QLR?

Were there more radio trailers used by the Y sections?

Thanks.

regards,

Dennis

Number

My books says that it is a Reynolds trailer, from the batch X 4671351 - 4671532 under Contract S.2912 for Trailer 10-cwt 2-wheel Direction Finding: (Body 1 unfitted) (prior to fitment of Wireless) and Type "A" B.C.2 (After fitment of Wireless).

My interpretation is that the QL which they quote the Census Number for, was a Troop Carrier W/T. I have not seen any photos of QLs with trailers of that type...does anyone know the answer please?

D/F Trailer

More info on the D/F trailer here - select army, then vehicles., then DF Trailer
I would assume that 2 trailers are required to "triangulate" a signal's position - maybe the Bedford was used to find a signal then the trailers would be sent out to fix the position, both being towed by something smaller (they're only 15cwt. trailers).

Also there's probably some information on the Trux website about this
