My 1942 NZ LP2A Carrier
 

Hi Everyone I'm a new member located in Auckland New Zealand.
I have owned this LP2A carrier for approximately 6 years and have been restoring for about the last 4 years.

Looking for help locating driver tool box or rear tool boxes???

Any help would be appreciated.

From the front tool rack, this is one of the carriers that spent the war in the GM factory carpark, and was converted post war to a support weapons carrier.

Why not complete it as a 1950's era vehicle?

Has it got any other mounting holes in the back plate? These may show what brackets were mounted there? Please post a photo of the rear and alos the top of the engine cover.

Hi Darron and welcome aboard. Very nice looking carrier. Is it in going condition and what is in between the fire wall and the air intake. Could you show some pictures of the internals.
I would suggest having a go at making your stowage boxes, they are like hens teeth to find originals.

Hi Everyone thanks for the comments. I have attached a picture of the rear end. These pictures were taken a little while ago so I'll do some more updates as soon as I can get the camera into the shed.

Re air intake I hadn't bolted it down at this stage.

Yes carrier was going before I pulled it to bits. This carrier belonged to Ken Hoddle, I promised Ken that I would restore it when I purchased it from him.

Plans for are to make it look more like a 50's carrier.
Have collected many bits over the years, also have guns to mount on to it. The mount in it is for a vickers and the rear is for a bren.

Unsure of whether to camo the paint job or not yet????

Your carrier is a 6 pounder anti tank gun tractor. The tow hook is the give away.

Have a look at the 'Men of Steel' thread <http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/sh...&threadid=9596>
to see the back of Ross Hopkins's one which has the ammo rack that mounts across the rear plate.

There are not many of these in captivity.

There is another nice one down in South Canterbury/Otago. I'll try to rustle up some pics one day!

Many thanks for the links and photo. I didn't realise what I had. I thought that someone had just added the hook at some stage.

I notice the others have additional parts on the back that I don't have.

Just doing the water pumps at present and broke on of the mounts so a bit gutted.

Have a look at the top of the front towing eyes for stamped in numbers. The T census number is on the drivers side, and the hull number is on the gunners side. If it is over 1000, look for an 'X' as well.

Let me know if you want the formula for the Kiwi green colour.
