New find
I'm re-inventing a 1941 Chevrolet 3/4 TSS Heavy Duty truck built by Holdens, Melbourne. It hit the production line in May'42, was originally painted "Khaki" for desert warfare and converted to Jungle green when the situation in the South West Pacific changed.
The 216 engine, was beyond recovery, should be in China by now.. A feller contacted me, said he had a fully rebuilt 216 that the previous owner had spent $6000 on, which was hard to belive. He didn't want it, he had bought a '52 Chev Canadian-built five-window utility which he intended to fit a Chevy V8 into and I was invited to make an offer. I said it was worth $1200 to me, and he accepted. I recently drove from Cairns to Alice Springs to check it out. It was absolutely perfect, in fact, it had never been run after being rebuilt, I fitted it yesterday, should be smoking and making noises by next week, While there, I bought a 46 Chevrolet five-window styleside utilty built on a '42 sedan chassis with IFS up front, motor turns over with good compression, $500. She's still wearing olive green, totally complete, very little surface rust. SO, does anyone have any data on the '46 Chevrolet utilities, I imagine not too many are still running these days.
