Bill Campbell's C60L fitted with an overdrive behind the original box. He drove this to Perth and back at an average of 80KPH

Nigel Ward and his BSA. Nigel and his wife Leisa were generous enough to allow me to ride it around the show a number of times over the weekend. I don't know if I would trust me!!

My F60S next to Phil's Stuart display. I was happy to give Tony Smith a run around the oval on the Sunday. Great to catch up with another forum member.

I don't think it is the one from dubbo, It was at our swap about 3 years ago in unfinished condition and is owned by Darren Addot from Toowoomba. It sure is a beut :thup2: It won best 1/2 ton at the show, good effort against 5 restored 1/2 ton dodges. It was an awsome show and only getting bigger and better! Jeff |

OK, so it's not CMP, not even military, but perhaps we could stretch the truth a little and suggest it's ex-RAAF?
This has to be the most gob-smackingly bizarre (but in a good way!!) vehicle I have had the pleasure to covet madly. It would be the right sort of vehicle to attract attention at an Airshow! Not only is it a unique vehicle, it is also vintage, having been built in 1950 by the late Bill Chater. It is built on a '40s vintage International KB-5 truck, it is the front fuselage of an Ex-Netherlands East Indies Navy, then Ex-KLM C47 Dakota. It is fully road registered and travels about as a camper van and for display events. |

With Kitchenette facilities, table and lounge, and bunk beds it is ideal for that quiet uninterrupted holiday away (if you don't mind being asked questions everywhere you go!). Just mind your head as you board!

Oh, and if you think a 40s-era 3 ton truck with a 30 odd foot long body would be slow and cumbersome on the road, this sleek stylish example is fitted with mounting points for JATO Rockets! (Who says he doesn't have a sense of humour?) Disturbingly, this is VERY close to the fuel filler, which I don't think would be very safe. Frankly, I don't know how it would pass rego like that, but this IS Queensland! :eek:

The DC3 on the Chev is in Melbourne. I have photo's somewhere of it. I'll dig them up and post. The truck is a Lend-lease Chev 1942.

That sounds like this one I saw while on the 1992 Variety Club Bash from Sydney to Ayers Rock, crewed by members of the Royal Australian Navy, it was also taking part. I thought we were slow, but we never saw them during the day after starting out and they were usually last ones in. It must have been a pig to drive through the bush and desert tracks. I looked in it and the instrument panel was a bit of plywood to the side of the driver! |
