Border Raiding

Now I know it is frowned upon by some and a challenge for others I thought I would take a few moments and share a few pictures I took last week while partisipating in the transportation of specific items from certain people from different places.
I must say I felt so bad removing items from accross the border and bringing them home.
I thought it only fair I show what I raided from our state just to keep balance and harmony between the ever growing numbers of collectors and restorers of military vehicles.
This is only a few pics but i will give resto pictures on each vehicle when I start them.
(keeping :D it :D fair :D)
Colin :salute:

dropped off another offering and picked up another fine example.
Oh and by the way i'm the fit looking one. :rolleyes

colin jones 10-11-07 03:04

Still a bit of room left so we fitted another wonderfulpiece of history on the back. Now its only there to make the trailer ride better.
I think W.A. is a loverly place. :confused

Colin :salute:

Is that the Freighter Imp on the truck with an OP White? Gone to WA you say?

Keith Webb 10-11-07 11:09

The border in question

So it's the W.A. border this time? At least it brings them closer to the Vic border I suppose.

The 2pdr carrier is a nice find. Is there a hull number on any of them?

Geoff Winnington-Ball (RIP) 10-11-07 12:28

Hmmmm.....

Well, two things occur to me here... I can't think which might be more significant! :confused

(1) On behalf of everyone here I think I can safely say we all owe Colin a vote of thanks! At great cost and inconvenience to himself, he has quite obviously taken it upon himself to outperform his own civic duties by ridding the Western Australia countryside of all that unsightly, rusty old scrap, while at the same time bestowing a gift of two useless old army vehicles upon a thankful, eclectic collector of such, thus also beautifying Victoria... hear-hear! :salute:

(2) It does behoove me to ask whether the Border Raiders have yet incorporated their Association and if so, have they developed a suitable logo applicable to a new line of raidingwear such as t-shirts and coveralls? I'm sure a number of people here might be interested... :ergh:

:sheep:

Eminently sensible suggestion, Geoff. We should be able to clearly recognise one another, lest we should spot some rogue bidding on a truck at an Auction, and not realise it is a fellow Border Raider, with disastrous consequences! :no4:
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...61716301-O.jpg

But it begs the question: Should ALL Border Raiders be under the one association, or should they form their own clandestine cells?

LMAO! Definitely cells - what's the fun without competition, plotting and intrigue?

Quite so, quite so... marvelous idea you two! Perhaps smaller states such as Victoria could have a single cell of Certified Border Raiders (henceforth known as 'CBRs'), while medium and larger states could support various internal regional CBR cells - an example might be the Northern New South Wales Cell, vs the New South Wales Southwestern Cell... this might end up providing endless entertainment should those internal cells be in competition with one another within or without. Imagine their respective Intelligence Networks alone (never mind the wagers)!

Jif

PS: Probably a silly question, but are there any CBRs based in WA, or are they just a little behind the times?

Keith Webb 10-11-07 22:55

CBRs

There was a cab 12 Chev which went from Copley in South Australia to the west some years ago but I think the tyranny of distance generally wins out so there is probably less raiding from that state.

The most vigilant and competitive award would have to go to South Australia though.

I'm planning a raid on New South Wales in the near future so watch out! :no4:

NSW RAID

KEEFY if you are intendinding to raid the north again I will be tempted to trip the well hidden self destruct device built into the trailer I donated to mexico.

Just how far north of the border are we talking, Keefy????
As you may be aware, the Riverina is patrolled by kamikaze sabre-toothed Kangaroos trained to strike upon unsuspecting Mexicans. Not to mention the drop-bears that hide under the chassis rails of #12 cabs, only to drop onto border raiders as they atempt to secure their load. nasty business...

I thought they were simple 'Highwaymen'.... sort of like 'Border Raiders' but lacking a syllable so they have to work harder...

Howard, I thought I overheard him saying something about a herd of rusty old 12-cab something-or-others just lying about someplace really flat, ripe for the picking...

...but I could be wrong, of course.

colin jones 11-11-07 02:04

Don't worry, H your cab 12s are safe... for the moment... and anyway, why would I be looking for what Jif says is a rusty one when there are so many barn finds up your way?

colin jones 11-11-07 02:43

Hi Keith,
numbers on the plate only say 2 and 19. there is no other numbers in front.
The numbers are stamped on the tow hitch plate on the front of each machine.

And yes it was Vic, but don't forget it was take over and bring back. Probably the most balanced border raid ever performed.
( can't help having a concience ) infact I aaaallllmost thought about taking them back. :D :D :D :D :thup2:
Colin.

colin jones 11-11-07 02:48

Oh and I also had to pickup my wife's earings from Benalla.
Can't afford to have my wife offside now can I? :nono:

Sure they do, Howard.... you find barns everywhere out in the country! Don't worry too much, though... them city folks haven't yet figgered out how to winch whole barns onto their trays... besides, even if them got them home they'd have nowhere to put them! :teach:

colin jones 11-11-07 03:05

Geoff Winnington-Ball (RIP) 11-11-07 03:30

You realise... if you're going to do that, we need a matching signet ring for the lads, too! And/or a carrier wheel pendant hanging off a chain - hell, that would work for guys AND gals!!

My god, MLU strikes again!! :drunk:

Raiderwear... I love it.... :)

colin jones 11-11-07 03:59
