G'Day All,
Now that the fabulous F15 has returned home it is time to build a shed!
Does anyone have any suggestions on the shed... eg dimensions, considering an F60L will more than likely be next... AND the budget is limited!
Do we have a shed builder on this forum?

Think of the size you would like it to be and before building quadruple the measurements and you will have the right size shed for a year or two :D

The most important thing is you can fit the F15, the aforementioned F60L (does this mean Tony will be assisting?) AND possibly the most important element missing from your scenario, a F15A belonging to a certain person (who must be obeyed) and with whom you are familiar...

Howard my sugestion is to buy The Land newspaper and check out the shed adds on the bottom of the pages, this way you can get an idea of standard size prices. I would start with a 3 bay with 3 sides clad and 1 bay inclosed. If finances are tight you only need to concrete the inclosed bay to start with and you have a comfortable work area. If you later need more bays you only need to take the end cladding off add a couple of bays with back cladding and put the end cladding back on. Inclosing more bays is as simple as moveing the internal wall and purchasing more doors. It helps to have a BBQ shed raising party also but keep the workers sober enough to read the plans. My 2 bobs worth. :coffee

Howard i have a 50x 30 foot shed and its chocka`s with stuff i can fit my Two F15A`s in there as well as a spare cab , some motors an Mk1 Escort and my motorbike but its a tight squeeze. I recommend you build the biggest you can afford and then start saving to build another shed the same size next too it so you will have room for more stuff , you will need it .

I am currently going to add a mezzanine to mine ,so i can store some things that i dont use often out of the way, until i can afford another 30x 50 foot shed .

Thanks for the feedback, fellas.
What I am particularly interested in is:
a) Recommended depth. (length of F60L + walk room front + walk room rear +storage room on rear wall) What is overall length of F60L? (with Aussie chassis extension)
b) Door opening height allowing for F60L with camopy fitted
I should point out that I do not own an F60L YET, and Tony's is stripped therefore hard to get a good measurement.

The shed will have to fit the following:
a) F15
b) F15A (OK Keefy??)
c) F60L (in future)
d) XA Falcon Sedan
e) XC Falcon P/van
f) 12' Boat on trailer

I envisiage 3 or 4 bays + workshop.
All for a budget of $2500 (just joking!)

Dear Members of MLU.
As Minister for Dept of War and Finance, any proposal for the above mentioned shed will first have to have due consideration within a hostile senate! :eek:
Certain conditions will need to be met re: Room for a very unique F15A of outstanding character. #13 Cabs will be given priority!
Keith: Many thanks for reminding those that need help with such issues; there are more trucks around here than just HIS!

In addition to the Depth of the shed (F60L will JUST fit into a 7m shed, Go for 8-9m for walkaround/servicing room), don't forget Height of any openings. 2.7m will just fit a Blitz on 12.00-20 tyres. If you have a sloping access (What grades in Ganmain???), you will need more height. If you wish to have a canopy and bows on the tray, or perhaps a vehicle on the back while in the shed, go for 3.0m or 3.3m high doorways, clear of rollerdoors, etc. The higher, the better, you never know what you might get in the future!

Do it on the cheap and get 40 foot Hi-Cube containers!

... especially considering the grades in Ganmain are measured in towering 1/2-inch increments per mile. One has to be really careful when designing/adapting such buildings as are proposed - as a matter of fact, I had heard that there was a special developers' test to be written by anyone hoping to build in the region. Apparently, passing grades are rare for the first couple of tries.

Jiff, You seem to forget that our house is built on the crest of the highest peak in town! Tony has brought to the front of my mind the delema of building on such a place! Should I excavate, or should I build the block up & terrace it?

Have been following this thread with interest as I too am organising for a new shed. I was planning on a 3.0m by 3.0m roller door/s. From what you have said Tony I should be okay with my C15A even with canopy. Yeah?

Realistically, the biggest thing you'd probably see in there would be a 3-tonner; whether it be with van-type body or a GS tray with bows & canvas, you'd be looking at approximately 20 ft long, 8 ft wide and 10 ft tall. Would this be something to consider?

I saw a shed man today, and called up this thread in his office. Plans are afoot & pricing will follow tomorrow. I have managed to swing a bit of a deal... I'll keep you posted!
