I note that Brenton has not 1, not 2, but 3 of these wheels on his carrier.
Each wheel (pictured)is stamped with it's own (carrier?) number 1.U1614, 2.U1431.
I see in the parts list, that there are nearly 30 different suspension related parts that are prefixed with the "U" is this any clue as to the origin of these wheels.
Do you have one of Jeff Plowmans books? ,according to which N.Z in Aug 42 was committed to building 2500 carriers. many parts were on hand and many orders for parts were being filled (from Aust, U.S.etc), and could not be cancelled. For example,in Feb 43, there were about 1.1 million surplus track links here (A350,000., U.S.750,000)
New zealands requirement was for 520 carriers, a further 650 had been built, ordered by Britian,and then no longer required.The 2500 was over and above.
So Tony, which way bogie wheels went accross the Tasman, I have no idea.
