Default Australian Carriers

Hi to all especially Australian colleagues....

Thanks to help from Shane Lovell, I have made a start logging Australian AIF/AFM T serial nos for LP1 and LP2/2A carriers and their derivitives. On reflection, however, I feel I will have to include those vehs with a Commonwealth No and all those that just used the Hull No. Of course, many vehs used all three !

In getting my head around all this, I have a number of questions/requests to help me along.

Here goes...

1. Does anyone have a list of which serials were manufactured under which contract and by whom ?

2. Is there a definitive listing of which units were AIF and which were AMF prior to the change to the Commonwealth numbers ?

3. Were any UK made carriers exported to Australia aside from T-2831 that was the initial pattern model for the LP1.

4. Has anyone any idea how many UK manufactured carriers returned with Aussie units in late 1941/42 or ended up in places such as Ceylon or Malaya ?

5. Ref the UK carriers that went back to Australia, what happened with their numbers ? Were they incorporated into the C system. Presumably they could not use the later Hull No system ?

6. Did any other carrier types - T.16, Oxfords etc - end up in Australia ?

7. Ref the LP2As that went to Brit units in Malaya, does any one have the serials ?

8. Can anyone give me details of the Eastern Supply Group Council ? I have learnt they ordered 2000 LP2s. Where did they all go ?

9. Does anyone have details of the New Zealand carriers built ?

10. Finally, is there anyone out there who has a full listing of the carrier nos from the AWM registration books that I could incorporate ? Shane very kindly sent me pics of the AIF 6112 Rego Book with some T Nos ending up with AIF/AMF T-3400.

I hope the above is none too daunting. I shall also post to a number of other fora and consolidate the answers.

Many thanks in anticipation to all

Roddy
