I went to the local auction yesterday, and after looking over the stuff I was interested in, I took a stroll through the farm machinery. I usually do this just to look for farm implements which have been built using cmp compnents, like hubs, tires, axles etc. So yesterday I spotted this:
At first, I thought that it was just a mixture of butchered cmp trailers, but after looking closer, I figured that the chassis was in fact a fairly unaltered 2 or 3 ton 4 wheel GS trailer. The master cylinder has been removed, but all the brake lines are intact. It has had a large fuel tank added to the back, along with a large locker and a pump. The tank contained diesel, which helped preserve some portions underneath, but disintegrated things like the tail light lenses and the little reflectors in the T plate. I found where the data plate should have been. It looks like it was recently removed.
Here is a shot of the front drawbar:
I'll remove the tank and locker, and keep my eyes out for a 12 foot trailer GS box. They still turn up in the oddest places from time to time. I need another trailer like I need a hole in the head, but the price was decent enough, and there is even around 40 gallons of diesel in the bottom of the tank, which I can use in my shop heater this winter.
