that makes sense, as the dust cloud behind would be drawn back inside the vehicle.

I had the opportunity to drive a Loyd on the weekend, and there was a long running discussion on the airflow direction. A fan with the opposite angled blades has been found (ex tractor) but it will need an adaptor made to fit.

It is about 1 inch smaller in overall diameter, but I think the rearward airflow will overcome any loss of efficiency at the fan tips.

Lynn,
the engine cowling is completely open at the front, with a wide spaced mesh. Possibly the wheeled Carrier has the same set up too.
