A few (7, 8?) years ago Geoff W-B and I went to Beltring together. On this short day trip we went from Holland through Belgium and France, before crossing the channel to England. According to him, it takes the same amount of time to pass through a single Canadian province! Apart from that, he was appalled by the fact that as a EU citizen I could pass right though, while he, as a former colonial, was thoroughly scrutinised by a UK customs officer
