Robin Craig (who occassionally posts on this forum) is a talented welder who made a replica for us (
www.calnan.com/swords).
As we couldn't get tapered tubing Robin used square, however, cut on a bias and welded up they sure look good! You will need to find the springs and hook from a wrecked CMP.
I will try to find some photos for you so you can see for yourself.
