Thanks for the replies guys. I have looked this over and I think I'll go with hydraulics. I just have to find out what wheel cylinders will fit the holes and work. I'm not restoring a carrier anyway, I'm making another Panzer Mk 1 out of it. I'm hoping to improve on the last one I made. This one will have a bigger power plant, and I've already flipped the axle to get the drive system to run the right way without a second transmission. I'll keep you all appraised of how it's going.

So far, I've learned that when you flip the axle, it doesn't line up perfectly with the holes in the body. You have to re-drill all the holes in the cast backing plate. Not too difficult to drill, but it was a surprise that I had to do it.
