LAKEFIELD, Ont. — Several residents of an eastern Ontario town were ordered from their homes Friday night until Second World War-era ammunition from the 1940s were handed over to police.
Residents in Lakefield Ontario, just north of Peterborough, were told to leave their homes for a few hours after officials received a call from an area home about the ammo.
Sgt. Mark Round says military personnel from CFB Trenton went to Peterborough this afternoon to pick up the shells for safe detonation of the explosives.
Round says the two shells are believed to be .30 or .40 calibre anti aircraft ammunition.
He says the police report did not indicate where the shells were stored in the home.
A nearby community centre was used to house the residents until after shortly after midnight when the area was deemed to be safe.

Anyone spot anything odd here?

.30 or .40 caliber..is rifle and pistol caliber ammo..
Hardly worth a big evacuation for..and two of them...WOW..!! Weapons of mass reduction...
