Where are you? There is a clutch of M38A1 owners in Ottawa (myself, Clive, Eric Blair, and two or three non-members). Clive has researched the CF vehicle registration numbers, serial numbers and plenty of other important information. He has not yet published it, but we are all hopefully waiting. There is a small book on Jeeps in Canada written by a PhD historian at the War Museum and published by Clive. It is not as illuminating as hoped for, but buy it nonetheless to support publishing.

As for your CF, there are fellows who will run the number through the current maintenance database. I got other parts of the same information from a $5 Access to Information request to the gub'mint.
