Appologies
Doug,
when you were asking for original armor with there being a number of threads allready on the go for re producing armor i perhaps foolishly presumed that you were looking for an untouched set to put on your carrier, and as it is usually the case when cut off by folk using them as work horses ie bits lying around rusting in a field they tend to be chopped above the rivets with a gas axe as drilling the rivets is so hard and time consuming (therefore the plate would be next to useless to re use as untouched armor)so again presumed you would be looking for a hull to chop up for its plate.
also not so long ago there was a chap asking for armor or a hull to act as a donor to cut up for its armor.. i figured the worse and presumed this is perhaps the "norm" in Canada, after all carriers are more in abundance there, bit like Vauxhall Astra's here in the UK.
"ALL THAT FOR ME TRYING TO FIND SOME PARTS"
sorry if i appear to have jumped the gun but i get extremely pissed when i hear of the above activities taking place especially knowing what the vehicles potentially have been through during their life. to me it is both a waste and a total lack of respect to do it. the long winded reply was to explain my response without it appearing that i am yelling at you, you will notice there are no exclamation marks in the post (or shouldnt be)........... merely trying to get my point across without causing offence..... guess i failed on that part

also as i thought you were hunting out a potential donor hull or someone to go get some armor from a hull i was trying to explain other options.
as for "Dougie" my bad i had no idea about your parents but i live on tuther side of the globe and EVERYONE here in Newcastle called Douglas gets called "Dougie" it is a typical Geordie short name, so perhaps force of habbit there.
i aplogise once again, i am sure you can appreciate from my response how passionate i am about this, i will hold my tongue / fingers. please continue to Crack on, and good luck
incidentally had you asked i could have posted you paper patterns for a full mk1 front end which i have.
cheers
Richie
