All Blitzes were originally Ford V8 powered and the V8s were also made in England
They were all capable of 80 mph.
He also insisted that the SAS used Austin Champs in the Western Desert in 1942 because they were more reliable than Jeeps.
I didn't try too hard to tell him the truth. Some people will never be told.
Another expert has emerged at my workplace a couple of days ago...
The tail of the conversation went something like this...
Me: Yes I have a couple of Blitzes that I intend to restore.
Xp: Oh, yeah, Willies, eh?
Me: Ah, No, Blitz Trucks.
Ex: Yeah, Yeah, WIllies!
Me: Ah, no, I have Fords, but Chev also made them.
Xp: Yeah, yeah... Willies! They were a willies design! Ford & Chev made them for Willies!
Me: Well, actually, the design was first penned by a bloke called Sid Swallow who worked for ford... and... yeah,,, then Willies. Thank you, have a good day.
